Bidadari Dari Timur

I just finished reading the book, Bidadari Dari Timur, Memoir Isteri Seorang Pejuang minutes ago with big fat tears as I closed the book. I started reading it last 2 nights while trying to put Nadirah to sleep and alhamdulillah managed to finish it today.

Behind every great man is a great woman and this book definitely proves that. Hmm.. Not sure how to put this into a sane sentence, but I would strongly recommend this book as "Must Read" for all great women out there and it also makes a meaningful wedding gift to brides.

I'm still speechless. I feel like I just discovered an exceptional manual on 'How to become a Great Wife' in this book. I'm nowhere near Khadijah (to Rasulullah) and this living proof is an exemplary to all of us. I'm truly glad that she decided to note down her life story in this little book (wish the book is thicker and the stories are longer!) and I hope she'll do more in the future. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah. Alhamdulillah.

You can get the book from here, worth it!

Bidadari Dari Timur…
Seandainya direntasi laut segara,
Tiada yang bisa menandingi lautan tabahmu,
Seandainya gunung dijadikan pasak,
Belum tentu seteguh setiamu,
Seandainya ditawarkan buatku seorang isteri,

Excerpt from the book:

Sengaja aku bertimpuh di balik pintu mendengar rintihan hati seorang suami buat Tuhannya;

Ya Allah Ya Aziz Ya Rahman Ya Rahim
Pengetahuanku pada kemurahan-Mu
Itulah yang memberhentikan aku di Pintu-Mu
Bagaimana aku akan kecewa?
Sedangkan Engkaulah harapanku
Bagaimana aku hina?
Sedangkan Kaulah tempat sandaran
Bagaimana aku akan mulia berbangga?
Sedangkan Engkau menempatkanku

Bagaimana aku akan miskin?
Padahal Engkaulah yang mencukupkan
Hidupkanlah hati-hati ini
Dengan makrifat-Mu
Matikanlah kami
Sebagai pejuang agama-Mu
Puaskanlah keluargaku dengan aturan-Mu
Berbanding aturan kami sendiri

Bantulah aku dalam menunaikan tanggungjawab selaku pemimpin
Ingatkanlah aku,
Bahawa aku hanya seorang hamba

Jom Bayar Zakat!

This article is written by Ust Nazri Chik, regulars at Surau Naim, Wangsa Maju. He's currently the Senior Manager, Shariah Department, Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad and also Accredited Trainer, Islamic Banking & Finance Institute Malaysia. In simple words, pakar bab Muamalat Islam la. Attended his kuliah only once, but I still can remember how engaging his kuliah was. Sgt byk ilmu Masya-Allah. Anyway, his article below is on Zakat, one of the 5 pillars in Islam.

Ok, for TNB staff, boleh pegi Tingkat 8 HQ, amik borang kat receptionist - Borang Kebenaran Potongan Gaji Zakat. Zakat yg dipotong akan disalurkan pd PPZ-MAIWP (Pusat Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan). Dalam borang kene isilah berapa nak potong sebulan and starting dr bulan berapa. If you're wondering how much should be allocated for zakat, my humble opinion is just using this simple calculation:

=2.5% * Monthly Salary
Example:
=2.5% * RM3,000
=RM75

Walla. That's it. Tak banyak pun. Sama mcm sekali dine at Nandos for 3 kot. Insya-Allah dah sempurnalah kewajipan membayar zakat kita. Nanti bile dapat borang BE (for LHDN) from TNB, dalam borang tu akan tertulis lah yg kita dah tolak bayar zakat and it will be exempted from bayar cukai. Point to remember, bonus raya, bonus gaji semua TNB takkan tolakkan utk zakat, so kita perlu buat perkiraan berapa lagi balance zakat yg masih belum dibayar. Contoh:

Jumlah pendapatan setahun = RM40,000
Jumlah yg wajib dizakatkan = 2.5%*RM40,000 = RM1000
Potongan zakat yg kita dah buat for the past one year melalui potongan gaji = RM75*12 = RM900.
Jumlah zakat yg belum langsai = RM1000 - RM900 = RM100

Make sure you keep the receipt and you can claim that for the next Taxation year.

Ha satu lagi. Kalau nak bayar pd Pusat Zakat Negeri masing2, for instance, ahli keluarga sanak saudara semua kat Kelantan tapi kita sedang bekerja di Kuala Lumpur, anda boleh bayar zakat pada Negeri Kelantan dengan cara isi borang PPZ Negeri Kelantan and submit pada HQ TNB Tingkat 8. They don't have the form, you have to get it from PPZ Kelantan.

Hope the info helps.

Saya tanya, “Busu (bukan nama sebenar) bayar zakat tak?” “Ustaz, takkan saya yang kerja kerani pun kena zakat. Gaji RM1000 lebih sikit je,” jawab Busu. “Jom kira,” saya kata sambil membuka website Pusat Pungutan Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan (http://zakat.com.my/kalkulator/pendapatan.html) untuk mendapatkan kalkulator zakat. Hasilnya setelah dikira Busu memang kena bayar zakat. “Ok Ustaz, saya buat potongan gaji,” kata Busu. Jawapannya adalah refleksi keimanannya.

2. Bagaimana kita pula? Gaji saya bukannya besar pun.” Kedua, yang tahu bahawa zakat wajib dibayar dan memang dia tergolong dikalangan orang yang wajib membayar zakat tetapi enggan/ berlengah-lengah/ alpa/ ambil ringan tanggungjawab membayar zakat.

7. Selamat menunaikan zakat…

Oral Trush

Nadirah 3-m0nth-young:
1. Started to suck her thumb and index finger last week (right hand only). Shussshh. She loves doing it, especially when she's sleepy and about to sleep. Layan gilerrr. Kalo tarik tgn dy, menjerit mcm kene dera. Arghh. She's loud! Super-loud. Tho we're not planning to send her to TKC for high school, she definitely qualified if they have to audition her voice for form 1 intake.

2. Last night she just discovered that she has another thumb (left!) and started to suck the other hand pulak. Adoi.

3. Last Tuesday Ibu noticed that she has oral thrush. Mummy thot it's milk residue. But nope. Confirmed, there are fungus growing happily in her mouth. Pity pity baby HnyB. What we do, we clean her mouth using soda bicarb diluted in boiled water. Alhamdulillah, the condition is improving.

Thrush in babies

My baby has white patches on the insides of her cheeks. What could it be?

It could be a yeast infection known as thrush which resembles cottage cheese or milk curds on the sides, roof and sometimes, the tongue of a baby's mouth. It's most common in babies two months and younger, but it can appear in older babies, too.

Everyone has yeast in their bodies - it's a normal part of the digestive system - but when there's an imbalance, an infection sets in. The main factors that can tip the balance are hormonal changes and the use of antibiotics - either in a breastfeeding mother or in a baby.

How can I be certain that it's thrush?

If you notice a white coating on your baby's tongue but nowhere else, it's probably just milk residue. Thrush, on the other hand, can be found on the tongue, but is most often on the sides of the mouth, causing it to be very sore. You may first suspect it if your baby starts crying when breastfeeding, sucking on a pacifier or a bottle.

If you think your baby has thrush, look for the characteristic white patches. Then gently touch a patch with a gauze-covered finger. It probably won't come off very easily, but if it does, you'll find a raw, red area underneath that may bleed.

How can I treat thrush?

Consult your paediatrician if you suspect your baby has it. She may prescribe an oral fungal cream called Nystatin or Mycostatin. It may take a week to clear up the infection. Sometimes doctors will recommend a mother apply Nystatin to her nipples if she's breastfeeding so that she and her baby don't pass the infection to each other. It's important to treat both mother and baby concurrently so that they don't reinfect one another.

Is there anything I can do to prevent my baby from getting thrush?

Not if, like many babies, she got the infection from you in the first place - picking up the yeasty bacteria as she passed through the birth canal during labour.

However, some babies are simply more susceptible than others to the fungus. Some people think it can also be caused by prolonged sucking on a bottle or pacifier; others think poor hygiene of bottle teats is to blame; still others blame a pacifier or bottle teat that's too large for the baby. However, babies who exclusively breastfeed and don't use pacifiers can also get it.

Some experts recommend giving a baby sterilised water to drink after breastfeeding or bottle feeding to rinse the milk residue away. Cleaning and sterilising pacifiers may also help. Some doctors advise breastfeeding mothers to let their nipples air dry between feedings to prevent thrush, and this is especially important if you do have thrush - damp nipples are a good breeding ground for yeasts.

Take care if your baby is placed on a course of antibiotics or if you're breastfeeding and take them to treat an infection. Antiobiotics kill off good, infection-fighting bacteria as well as bad bacteria; either can trigger a case of thrush in the baby, especially if you contract a vaginal yeast infection in the process.

Is thrush dangerous?

Not really. The biggest problem occurs if your baby's mouth is too sore to suck - she may get dehydrated. Your doctor may prescribe paracetamol suspension for the pain. You should alert your doctor if the thrush doesn't seem to clear up with treatment or if the baby also has a fever over 101 degrees F / 38.2 degrees C, which could indicate a different infection.

A bout of thrush can be very trying for all of you - a hungry baby who finds it painful to feed is a very sad sight - but is usually short-lived. Give your baby all the comfort she needs, follow your doctor's instructions for pain relief and medicine, and this infection, too, will pass.

Majalah Solusi

Mengapa perlu SOLUSI?

Perlu apa lagi sebuah majalah Islam diterbitkan?

(Surah al-Qasas: 26)

Pesta Buku Antarabangsa KL 2009 Part II

Alhamdulillah, after long years of not going to the KL BookFair, this year I managed to attend the book carnival with Dear hubby and our 3-month-old-HnyB :-) 2nd alhamdulillah - Nadirah was so good throughout the 3 long hours (Sleeping!) at PWTC which was extremely jam packed I tell you! She slept soundly in her littlepods red baby pouch I bought during confinement and that was the very first time she agreed to stay put in it. Previously we tried twice to tuck her in the pouch but she refused, first time instantly refused, 2nd time, at first ok, then cried after 3 minutes in the pouch. Third attempt - tido terus 3 jam! Fuhh.. usaha tangga kejayaan, don't give up and keep on trying, else sooner or later need to make an appointment with the orthopedic la. I highly recommend mummies out there to use baby pouch for small babies. Nadirah dozed of soon after abi wore her. Oh yes, abi, not mummy ;-)

About the book fair - if you are planning to go, make sure you plan before hand where you wanna go. Check the floor plan at the Ruang Legar Utama PWTC where the main stage is so that you know which hall to go and not wasting your time bustling inside the busy hall.

All in all, must go if you have time and wanna find books at bargain price! Yes, there are lotsss of baby's books production- Grolier, Ben And Bella, ReadNetwork (Siri Cepat Membaca Bacalah Anakku - visit the author's blog here), Al-Ameen Serve Holdings Sdn Bhd (Buku Siri Cepat Membaca Ameen) and many more. We were 'trapped' by the salesperson of Ben and Bella but sorry brader, we're not interested. huhuh. We've adopted another program for HnyB called 'Your Baby Can Read' and bought the books, flash cards and CDs from mybbstore.

Bought that from Saba' Islamic Media. Got Ani's cassette for free. Another CD Mesut Kurtis-Salawat RM20, RRP RM35. Actually we just love 1 song - Burdah. Try google the song and listen it, sedappp.

HnyB's 1st Road Trip to Kedah!

7.30 am, Saturday, we headed up north. The mission is to visit Uncle at Hosp Sultnh Bhyah, Alor Star. He's been warded for 2 weeks already. I'm too lazy for words, so let's the pictures do the talking.

The driver ;)

The happy baby in her carseat. She really loves stravelling, just like Mummy.

Arrived at the brand new hospital around 12.30pm. Seriously, it looks like a private hospital. The 1st class ward is as big as my room in PCMC, with TV and all. (ke aku jakun?)

Look at sawah padi view from the ward (lobby). Marvelous isn't it? Patients sure tenang je tgk sawah padi hari2.

Close up.

Jakun 2: Uncle's room is opposite to the Royal Ward (pic: entrance to RW). Pintu RW tu automatik wa cakap lu.

Nope, no one is 'gering' in the Royal Ward.

We stayed til 4.30pm, then started our journey to Opah's house in Sitiawan with Opah. Oh ha, we met Opah at the hospital. She has arrived earlier from Sitiawan with PakTeh.

Mission Posibble Started.
Mr J and I mengidam nak rase Radix Fried Chicken.
The first branch in Malaysia is in Sg Petani.
Mr J called his friend for direction.
Keluar exit Sg Petani(U). Turn left. Go straight until 3rd traffic light, u'll see deretan kedai ahead of you on your right - RFC is there. But you have to go straight to 4th traffic light, then only turn right. (Sampai sekarang boleh ingat) Don't be fooled with a red sign to Radix Chicken Rice before the 1st traffic light, we want RFC, not RCR. That's the mission. Heh.

Guest what? O.r.a.n.g.r.a.m.a.i.g.i.l.e.r. Nak duduk pun kene tungu org habis makan. Meja full! I have to queue for half an hour baru dapat order. But that made me more teruja to buy it coz people come and go like it's the last day of RFC operation. HohOhOho.

Lepas stgh jam menunggu, lg la terase sedapnyeh makan ayam goreng RFC. Menjilat jari! Seriously up to my expectation and since MrJ and I dah lame boycott KFC, it was a sweet revenge. Makan x hingat dunia. Siap order extra bawak balik Perak.

My snack Plate or RFC Chicken Delight Set A. The chicken is in Original Recipe or RFC Herb Chicken. MrJ makan Spicy chicken. They are as crispy as KFC. Try it first, then you'll know.

Bekal utk pengubat kempunan. WHoAaa, puas hati den!

Nadirah, otw balik dr RFC. Pity girl, you can't taste the scrumptious chicken yet. Neymind, you still can taste it tru Mummy's special edition RFC milk aight? :-)

Ahh, bliss. Alhamdulillah.

Rupe mummy eh Aunty Awin and Aunty Akmal? Caiyokkk! ^_^

Nadirah...

Aaaahh. Alas, ade gak mase nak update japs. Life is pretty hectic these days. Last weekend, the 3 of us went to makan Mee Udang Sabah specially made by the super-talented-chef-and-heavily-pregnant-momma, K Zaidah, SIL to hubby. Menjilat jari! Tak rugi tunggu sampai ke ptg baru drg sampai. She cook the meal at her house and bring it over to K wati's where MIL and the rest of us were waiting patiently.

Nadirah and Liyana. See, she's staring the lady-bird. She even talks to the lady bird.

Nadirah? At first she was busy entertaining herself on the playmat with baby Liyana, K wati's youngest daughter. Then tangan dy dah terkepak-kepak and menampar anak tuan rumah yg sedang baring di sebelah. Liyana dah la muke innocent je, and 2 months older than Nadirah, but Nadirah definitely more 'vocal' (singing baby carol whenever she feels like it) and more brutal. Ahhh, anak mummy betol! Anyway, she now can focus and concentrate on any striking/colourful hanging objects. Be it toys, langsir, towel or anything, she just stares! I still can remember Lana's remark to me long time ago (ntah biler aku x ingat) - "Azi3, ko stare org obvious giler! Ko mmg kena pakai sunglass besar mcm mummy aku!" Haha. Ha, nadirah skrg suke sembang and tersengih-sengih buat muke comel dy masya-Allah :-) Mummy always remember Nadirah's smile and missing every moment of it :-(

Staring mama-parrot. Bought this well b4 her delivery from Mom's Care.

Her new bundle of joy, mama-parrot. B4 2 mo, she loved seeing the parrot's red bum and the black and white design at the back, now she loves anything striking.

Monday was my first day driving to work and I didn't really like it. Dah biasa tido dalam LRT, skalik biler drive x leh tido ni yg payah sikit ni. Hoho. I guess I wont be driving to work every single day, as a start prolly alternate days. Tgh nak biase tido x tentu mase dulu with nadirah, then adapt to bukak mata between 7-8am travelling to work. Normally, my eyes are wide shut on LRT.

Ha, Nadirah many times refuses to drink from her bottle. I was a bit 's' out at first. Monday normally the worst. She feeds directly from the source over the weekend, so Monday is never a good day for the babysitter. Bertempur Nadirah dgn ibu nak bagi susu. Aduhh. So when I arrived around 6.45pm to fetch her, her eyes were wide open waiting for Mummy the milk factory. And she doesn't like frozen EBM. Totally hates it. Sheessh. Memilih juga anakku ini. Ye la, kite pun suke fresh milk, baby pun pandai jugak la suke yg sedap2 aje. huhuhu.

Abi balik today, huyeahhhh!

Missing You Mode

"A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bankroll smaller, home happier, clothes shabbier, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for"

Love you Nadirah :*

Abi balik cepat!! Nadirah and Mummy missing you already!

S.O.S

Got (enuff) milk?

Scenario 1:
I send off Ndrh to babysitter's (Kak Mai) house at 6.30 am daily and pick her up close to 7pm. I noticed that her drinking habit has changed since beginning of the week. She drinks nearly 20 oz daily (previously just 15 oz) for the span of 12 hours. That is A LOT! Yesterday was even more, 22 oz coz Mummy reached home later than usual and only managed to see her after Magrib. Soon she saw me coming, she started to cry coz she was super hungry and the milk I supplied were not enuff. Anyhow, K Mai told me that she sometimes just wanna suck the teat and spill out most of the milk instead of gulping all down the throat.

I suspect that she needs a pacifier when I'm not around. My verdict is, she doesn't drink as much as 20 oz; prolly just 15 oz at most; and the balance is just to wet her tongue and clothes.

Scenario 2:
I prefer to pump less but gain more. For example, since I started working last week, I just pump twice = 20 oz during office hour. One in the morning and another late afternoon. 15 oz is for instant consumption (day after) and another 5oz I keep as frozen stock. Normally, I will leave 20 oz to babysitter, 15oz (production hari sebelum) + 5oz (frozen). Yesterday K Mai told me that I need to prepare at least 25oz for Nadirah, just in case I arrived late like before. Mana mau cari lagi 5oz? My frozen stock is running low.

How to increase milk production eh? I am quite happy with 20 oz daily, twice pumping session. The only way is to pump at night to get another top up of 5oz and balik Sitiawan and bring back all the frozen EBM (around 150 oz) which will only last for a month or so.

To do:
1. Amik cuti next week balik Perak.
2. Beli cooler bag with wheels from Momslittleones.com. Not to forget ice pack. More $$$ needed
3. Pump before tido - slim chance, normally dah tertido with Nadirah without even sempat gosok gigi.
4. Drink lots of soya?

Anything for dearest HnyB, IAllah.. :*
